COVID-19 infections in Logan and the Scenic Rim continue to fall

The number of people infected with COVID-19 in Logan and the Scenic Rim is continuing to fall, as Queensland recorded 11 more COVID related deaths.

Logan is now sitting at 18,746  cases – a jump of 347  infections overnight, while the Scenic Rim has hit 933 cases – an increase of 18.

Statewide there are 9546, including 3845 positive results from rapid antigen tests.

It’s also been revealed that been revealed Education Minister Grace Grace has COVID-19.

Chief health officer Dr John Gerrard says there are now 928 people in hospital – a ‘significant rise’ from the 878 yesterday as Queensland approaches its general Omicron peak.

Fifty-one people are in ICU and 13 are on ventilators.

Of the 11 deaths, one person was in their 50s, one in their 60s, two in their 70s, three in their 80s and four in their 90s.

Four of those people were unvaccinated, one person had one dose, six were double vaccinated. None had their booster shot.

Dr Gerrard says the peak is not the end – but the high point of the pandemic.

He says it’s still unclear worldwide about what will  happen following the current wave.
