The RACQ is warning Darling Down’s revellers to plan their journeys to Brisbane wisely tomorrow with almost 70 roads and walkways closed for this year’s Riverfire.
Areas around Kangaroo Point, the CBD, Southbank, New Farm and Mt Coot-tha will be shut for safety reasons for the event from early tomorrow morning.
Some roads along Kangaroo Point Cliffs will be closed from as early as 6am, while the main streets in Southbank will shut around 4pm and the Story Bridge at 6:15.
The Captain Cook Bridge will be under traffic control from 6:45pm to 7:15pm with all roads expected to be reopened by midnight.
There will be extra public transport services to cater for the expected crowd and buses and trains will be free for two hours from 7:30pm at several stops in the city and around Southbank and Woolloongabba.
Ferries will be halted between 6.30 and 7.30pm.
