Flood appeal to help Logan and Scenic Rim

A Queensland floods donation campaign, will help flood-affected Logan and Scenic Rim residents get back on their feet.

The State Government launched the Queensland floods donation campaign today, with a $2.1 million donation on behalf of Queenslanders.

It comes as Logan has lost around 90 homes, while around 50 businesses have been inundated by floodwaters.

The $2.1 million will be split between five charities including the Australian Red Cross ($500,000), Lifeline Queensland ($500,000), The Salvation Army Queensland ($500,000), to Vinnies QLD ($500,000) and GIVIT ($100,000).

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk urged those that can help out to do so.

“We’re encouraging people everywhere to dig deep and support these charities.

“We know in times of disaster the Queensland spirit shines the brightest.

“This week we’ve seen Queenslanders everywhere stepping up to help their fellow Queenslanders.”

The Member for Waterford Shannon Fentiman says the spirit of Logan has shone this week and the flood appeal will help local residents recover.

The Member for Macalister Melissa McMahon says it has been a tough week for her community.
