Former Mayor to stand trial

  • Scott Mayman is an award-winning radio presenter and journalist who has worked professionally in both Australia and in the United States and is also a Correspondent for CBS News Radio in New York.

Former Logan City Council Mayor Luke Smith has been committed to stand trial on charges of official corruption and perjury.

Smith is accused of corruptly receiving a luxury power boat from a Chinese developer,  who’d been seeking to build a hotel in Springwood.

It’s further alleged, in 2017  he gave false information to the Crime and Corruption Commission about the developer’s plans.

Smith serviced as Logan City’s mayor from 2016 to 2019.

He’s yet to enter a plea.
