Scenic Rim locals and visitors alike are being encouraged to make the most of the Garage Sale Trail on 21 and 22 November.
In the Scenic Rim alone, there are there are 6369 items registered for sale across 33 garage sales at Clumber, Kooralbyn, Dugandan, Aratula, Beaudesert, Canungra and Tamborine Mountain.
Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen said it was a good opportunity to save money and the environment by shopping and selling second hand.
“We are one of 115 Councils Australia-wide taking part in the Garage Sale Trail, which is gearing up to be one of the best yet,” he said.
“Nationally, more than 2 million items are expected to be listed and diverted from landfill on this year’s Garage Sale Trail, and the Scenic Rim Regional Council is proud to be part of this.
“As well as people hosting private garage sales, several community groups in the Scenic Rim, including Beaudesert Scouts and the RSPCA Op Shop on Tamborine Mountain are this year taking part in the Garage Sale Trail.
“So I strongly encourage everyone to check out the map on the Scenic Rim Garage Sale Trail website, find a garage sale near you and support this great initiative.”
Garage Sale Trail co-founder Andrew Valder said there would be something for everyone.
“From incredible jewellery, rare collectables and antiques, almost brand-new toys and games to one-off clothing pieces and high-end accessories – Garage Sale Trail could be your one stop shop for all your Christmas gifts this year, he said.
