Greenbank man arrested over attempted robbery

A Greenbank man is in custody over his involvement in the alleged attempted robbery of a woman in Sunnybank on Monday.

It will be alleged around 1:20pm, the 18-year-old Greenbank man and his co-accused were driving around the carpark of a shopping centre on Mains Road, Sunnybank in a stolen Kia.

A 34-year-old Rochedale woman was seated in another vehicle when one of the men allegedly approached and knocked on the window of the Porsche.

As the woman opened the door, the man allegedly attempted, unsuccessfully, to remove the keys from the ignition before returning to the Kia.

Police, with the assistance of Polair, located the Kia driving on parkland at the end of Rocklea Street, Archerfield.

The man fled the vehicle on foot and was arrested by police nearby.

It will be further alleged one man was in possession of a knife when apprehended.

The Greenbank man was charged with one count each of attempted robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, obstruct police and possession of a knife in a public place.

His co-accused was charged with attempted robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, common assault and enter premises with intent.

The Greenbank man was denied bail when he faced the Richlands Magistrates Court yesterday.
