How M1 upgrade will impact Logan City locals

Stage two of construction will soon start on the Pacific Motorway (M1) running through Logan City.

Major construction works on the Watland Street to Sports Drive upgrade are due to start in January 2021, as part of Stage 2, M1: Eight Mile Plains to Daisy Hill upgrade.

From this month (January 2021) construction will start in the following locations:

  • Francesca Court, Underwood
  • Springwood Rd, Underwood
  • Lexington Rd, Underwood
  • Logan Rd/Compton Rd intersection
  • Logan Rd northbound M1 off-ramp
  • Rochedale Rd, Rochedale South
  • South East Busway, Rochedale South

These works are expected to take up to two years to complete, depending on weather and site conditions.

Most of these works will be undertaken during standard daytime construction hours.

During these works Springwood, Underwood, and Rochedale South locals may experience construction impacts such as increased noise, dust and vibration, including from:

  • The use of trucks, excavators, and hand tools.
  • Noise from the use of construction equipment
  • Vehicles and equipment with flashing lights and reversing beepers for the safety of onsite workers.
  • Truck movements to deliver equipment and materials to and from site.
