A police search for a thief that began with an allegedly stolen vehicle in Logan City has ended in a crash in northern New South Wales with the arrest of a 41 year old man.

It’s alleged a silver Toyota Yaris was stolen from a Waterford West property and driven across the border.

Police say the driver then allegedly broke into a property at Cangai, 50km west of Grafton before filling up the car with petrol and driving off without paying.

He was then intercepted by police on the outskirts of Grafton and after a police chase, the vehicle crashed into another vehicle at a roundabout.

The 41 year old was arrested and charged with a variety of offences and refused bail, to appear in Grafton Local Court in mid August.
