Logan City man sentenced to less than two years jail for road rage bashing

  • Rod Stephen is a former television journalist and has worked as Foreign Editor for the Seven Network, Australian Bureau Chief for TV3 New Zealand, UK correspondent for Seven and ABC radio and as a producer for Reuters TV in London as well as SBS in Sydney and Melbourne before returning to Brisbane to work at 4BC.

A Logan City man who bashed a tradie in the head with a metal trowel during a road rage attack on the M1 will spend less than two years in jail.

In February 2018, Brock Prime suffered a fractured skull, brain injury and a broken leg when he was bashed by Jonathan Lawrence.

Brisbane District Court Judge Michael Byrne told Lawrence he was fortunate he didn’t kill him.

Two-thirds of Mr Prime’s skull had to be removed because of swelling of the brain and a prosthesis had to be put in months later.

The 29 year-old pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm, he was sentenced to five years’ jail, suspended after 20 months.

Another man who punched Brock in the head at least three times was ordered to do 100 hours of community service.
