At Friday’s ordinary Council meeting, Logan City Mayor Darren Power took the opportunity to reassure local residents that despite his frequent coughing at events he ‘has tested negative for Covid-19’.
The council meeting marked the first for the year, and while many council policies and committee intricacies were discussed, Cr Power ended the meeting with a public message.
“I’d just like to also take the opportunity to say that people in the community have probably seen me coughing all the time,” he said.
“I’ve been tested for Covid and I have pneumonia.
“I am recovering and am under a specialist, on medication.
“Please don’t worry when you see me out there coughing. I’ll probably be coughing for a few months yet.
“It’s not great having pneumonia in a Covid crisis because everyone thinks you’re carrying the disease.”
