Logan City residents encouraged to carry masks

Logan City residents have been able to relax, to a degree at least, in the wake of COVID-19 restrictions being lifted in the city last Friday.

The entire Greater Brisbane area, including Logan City, had been required to adhere to restrictions, including the wearing of face coverings, following the lifting of a lockdown as part of the state government’s efforts to control the spread of the highly contagious UK strain of the coronavirus which had been identified in a cleaner who had been working at a Brisbane quarantine hotel.

Even though those subsequent restrictions have been eased, Logan City Mayor Darren Power is reminding residents that they should still hold onto their facemasks anyway.

“I think you should carry one at all times,” said Cr Power.

“In the car and on your person because there are times when you can’t social distance and you get caught up in crowds.

“And I still think that there is a concern out there in the community.”
