Councillor Karen Murphy has invited Logan City locals to have their say on the latest development proposal.
“The public notification period is about to commence for a proposed development at 10 Coral Street Beenleigh,” she said.
Whale Shark Pty Ltd Atf The Whale Shark Trust submitted the application.

Proposed duplex – Beenleigh.
The development application is seeking Logan City Council’s approval for a development permit for a material change of use (rooming accommodation in a duplex) with associated reconfiguration of a lot (1 into 2, into a duplex) at 10 Coral Street.
The site of the proposed development is between low density residential neighborhoods, near the Beenleigh ShowGrounds, and the Beenleigh Mall commercial Centre. It is quite close to Boundary Street, which connects to the M1.
It is proposed both rooming accommodations will have five bedrooms, meaning there will be ten bedrooms within the proposed duplex.
The publicly available town planning report, by Steffan Town Planning, states:

Proposed duplex – Beenleigh.
“The proposed development should be supported by Council due to the following reasons:
• The proposed Rooming Accommodation land use is intended for the subject site within the zone;
• The proposed Reconfiguration of a lot is integral to provide two new allotments for 5x bedroom
Rooming accommodation developments to provide a variety of residential accommodation
options within the Beenleigh locality;
• The development is largely compliant with the Assessment Benchmarks listed within the
planning scheme; and
• The development was found to align with the specific outcomes of the strategic intent of the
planning scheme.”
Cr Murphy said she was unable to give her opinion on the development proposal as a Councillor, however she believed it was important for the community to have their say.
“It’s important for people to have their say,” Cr Murphy said.
“Please reach out to either the council officers or my office.”
