Logan City locals have been invited to vote for their favourite ‘Name the Crane’ submission from the five finalists, as a part of the $460 million Logan Hospital expansion.
Residents may have noticed a crane added to the skyline as the Logan Hospital expansion is well underway to deliver better health care to Logan City locals while creating up to 1000 jobs during peak construction.
Currently the crane is being used to build the Logan Hospital’s brand new multi level car park.
The new car park will be eight levels and provide 1,506 new parking spaces. Once the Hospital expansion is complete there will be over 2000 car parks available on site.
The car park is being built in the south-west corner of the Logan Hospital campus at the corner of Armstrong and Loganlea roads.
Logan City children were invited to submit their best names for the crane.
The top five crane names are:
- Transformer
“Because the crane will transform the site into a car park,” said Kato, in year 5. - Sir Lift a Lot
“It’s a cute name and explains what he does,” said Kai, in year 1. - Captain Hook
“Because it looks like a hook/claw,” said Hudson, Freya and Xanthe in prep, year 2, and year 4. - Zeus
“It’s big and muscular like my dog,” said Jazmin, in year 6. - Falcon
“Falcons fly high in the sky,” said Toby, in prep.
Logan Hospital has asked residents to leave a comment stating their favourite name on its Facebook post.
The winning name will be displayed on the 38.9 metre high tower crane that’s helping to build Logan Hospital’s new car park.
Voting closes at midnight on Sunday November 15.
