Logan’s Inspirational Women: Debbie Hill

Debbie Hill chat to My news Feed about what International Women’s Day means to her.

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the local women of Logan.

Meet Debbie Hill, founder of Loganholme based non-profit organisation, Lighthouse Care.

“I think it’s wonderful to celebrate girls, women are amazing, we live in a day when everyone can achieve everything they want to do,” Debbie says.

“Personally for me, I love being a mother, it’s an incredible thing we get to do as a woman, I love celebrating that.

Giving locals a hand up when things are tough is something Logan City local Debbie Hill strives for every day through Lighthouse Care, an emergency food relief.

“People are not only getting a great bargain, but they’re helping the most vulnerable, with profits from Lighthouse Care going back into the community,” Debbie says.

From its beginnings in 2004 handing out bread from an old van, the organisation has grown to span two supermarket locations – Loganholme and Hillcrest – and offers a range of affordable produce and groceries, including popular $25 trolleys, which are gifted to families who need it throughout the year.

Thanks to Debbie’s dedication to the community, locals have a place of hope, support and encouragement.

“Happy Women’s Day, I don’t think there is anything greater than being a woman.
“We are enduring, resilient and possess a different strength than our men.
“Girls your genuine love and care for your family and the world around you will take you to amazing places – you are a shining light of hope. Women – we celebrate you.”
