Kuluin man fined after allegedly doing 146km/h near Wondai
A 29-year-old Kuluin man has been fined $1,919 and lost eight demerit points after allegedly driving 146km/h in a 100km/h zone near Wondai.
A 29-year-old Kuluin man has been fined and had his licence suspended after allegedly driving nearly 50km/h over the speed limit on Chinchilla Wondai Road at Chahpingah.
Wondai Police say they intercepted a white Mazda dual cab on 28 October at around 9.40am, after observing it travelling at 146km/h in a 100km/h zone.
The driver was issued with a high-speed traffic infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h. The penalty is eight demerit points and a $1,919 fine.
Police are reminding drivers that speeding remains one of the leading contributors to serious and fatal traffic crashes. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, drive to the conditions and prioritise safety on every journey.
The Queensland Police Service says it is committed to reducing the number of lives lost on Queensland roads, but that enforcement alone cannot stop all dangerous driving behaviours. Police say driving under the influence, speeding, driving distracted or while fatigued, or not wearing a seatbelt puts the lives of drivers and others at serious risk, and that these behaviours will not be tolerated.
Police say Queenslanders can expect officers anywhere, anytime, and that road safety starts with each driver.
