Teen charged over dangerous driving in Caboolture and Moreton district
A 15-year-old Burpengary boy faces nine charges after a black Ford Falcon was driven dangerously on the Bruce Highway at Caboolture. Police want dashcam vision.
A 15-year-old Burpengary boy has been charged with nine offences after a black Ford Falcon was allegedly driven dangerously across Moreton District on 22 October, police say.
Police allege the Falcon was seen being driven dangerously in Mango Hill, Burpengary and Clontarf between 3pm and 8pm. Around 4.20pm, the occupants were allegedly seen leaning out of the window while the car travelled at high speeds on the Bruce Highway at Caboolture.
On 25 October, following further enquiries, police found the Falcon abandoned in bushland near Twin View Road in Elimbah and seized it. Police also attended an address in Burpengary the same day and arrested the boy.
He has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, passenger travelling with a body part outside a vehicle, driving without proper control of a vehicle, driving without due care and attention, wilfully creating unnecessary noise, driving without a licence, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and face masked for the commission of an indictable offence.
He was due to face Caboolture Childrens Court on 26 October.
The investigation is continuing, and police are appealing for anyone with relevant dashcam vision to come forward. Anyone with information should quote reference number QP2602094641.
The arrest is part of Taskforce Yankee Tread, launched in August to target dangerous driving across the district. Senior Sergeant Tom Jakes, Officer in Charge of Moreton District Tactical Crime Squad, said he is extremely proud of the dedication of the officers involved.
"This incident demonstrated an extremely reckless disregard for the safety of the occupants, other road users and members of the public," he said.
"The community can be assured that dangerous driving behaviour of this nature will not be tolerated. Those involved in hooning activities should expect that we will continue to utilise every available investigative avenue to identify offenders and hold them accountable."
