Firework displays are a quintessential part of New Years Eve, but this year the one official location in Logan City that’s been approved by council has been cancelled because of the wet weather.
Club Beenleigh was lined up to host Logan City’s only council approved fireworks display for New Years Eve at midnight, however the wet weather has put a damper on those plans.
Other private displays may occur, but these are subject to permits from fire authorities.
However, there are a few places within driving distance of Logan City to catch some at midnight.
According to the list of registered firework and explosive displays publicly available on the Queensland Government website, there will be New Years Eve fireworks at:
Dreamworld at Coomera
9-11 Shepparton Road, Helensvale
The Glen Hotel, Eight Mile Plains
The Scenic rim has also been impacted. According to mayor Greg Christenson there will also be no council approved New Years Eve firework displays in the Scenic Rim as well, however private displays may still go ahead, pending permit approval from fire authorities.
