Police hope confronting new videos will help cut the Qld road toll

This is the first in a series of confronting new videos the Queensland Police Service (QPS) has released in an effort to reduce the road toll.

It features forensic crash officers, firefighters, paramedics and a trauma surgeon and is meant to increase public awareness of the dangers of unsafe driving behaviour as the state continues on a trajectory to lose 300 Queenslanders to fatal crashes this year.

So far 174 people have lost their lives on Queensland roads this year, 18 of them across the Darling Downs.

Assistant Commissioner Ben Marcus says it’s been over a decade since the state has reached such a tragic milestone.

Road Safety Awareness Week started today and ends on Friday.
