Program to help address youth crime issues and stigma

  • Scott Mayman is an award-winning radio presenter and journalist who has worked professionally in both Australia and in the United States and is also a Correspondent for CBS News Radio in New York.

“Esuarve”  (Everything Suarve) is a Gold Coast based program which is reaching out to Logan City youth.

The program helps address youth crime issues and stigma plaguing the region’s youth., under the directorship of  Joe Te Puni-Fromont, Daniel Grace and youth worker Steve Henry.

“We know how important this work is” according to the directors with one of them almost in tears as they told many stories about how the group was founded and how they  reach out to so many boys and girls in the program.

“We can guide and help create more positive solutions for people who sometimes are not given a chance

“Life’s not easy – people sometimes make mistakes.  But we can’t keep them when they’re down.   Instead of reaching  out and lifting them up and helping them and opening up opportunities,  sometimes opportunities are not given to these boys and girls.  That’s why we are here for to create these opportunities and empower these kids.

Funding is a problem.  The non-profit business is struggling financially because it’s not entitled to government funding until it has been registered for two years.   In the meantime,  the Directors of the program are paying out of pocket to feed and clothe the youth as well as offering transportation.
