Queensland’s highest profile Muslim leader is set to take on a new challenge after declaring his intention to become a Labor Party delegate in the Federal seat of Rankin.
The CEO of the Islamic College of Brisbane, Ali Kadri, says he hopes to become one of nine ALP delegates elected in the seat, held by Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers.
Forty year old Mr Kadri says he wants to be a delegate so that he can have a say in the direction of Australia.
Rankin Labor Party members will vote later this month to decide on the successful delegates.
