The Toowoomba-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue chopper has responded to two serious crashes, on the Darling Downs, this morning.
The rescue helicopter was first called to a single vehicle rollover, west of Toowoomba, just before 9am.
Paramedics initially treated an injured teenager, before transporting him to a nearby paddock, to rendezvous with the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue crew.
The boy was then airlifted to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, in a critical but stable condition.
As the crew was returning to base, they were tasked to another crash, involving two trucks, east of Toowoomba.
The pilot was able to land the aircraft on the road, which police had been closed to traffic.
It’s believed a driver was entrapped, after his vehicle had collided with a truck travelling in front of his vehicle.
The medical crew worked with paramedics to treat the patient, while the aircrew returned to base to refuel the helicopter and collect more medical supplies.
The chopper returned to the scene, but it was determined the patient would be able to be transported to Toowoomba Hospital by a ambulance, under the care of paramedics and the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue Critical Care Doctor.
