Rainfall to drench Logan and Scenic Rim

Logan and the Scenic Rim remain under threat from an intense rainfall event, as locals are encouraged to stay indoors.

Significant rainfall is expected to fall over both regions, as forecasters predict up to 200mm to fall.

It comes as a coastal trough looms off the eastern seaboard and continues to make its way towards land.

The system is expected to make landfall later today.

Atmospheric Scientist Brooke Pagel says Logan and the Scenic Rim can expect a drenching.

Heavy rainfall is expected to persist well into tomorrow, with conditions expected to ease by the weekend.

Ms Pagel urged locals to keep up to date with weather warnings issued by the weather bureau.

“A severe weather warning remains in place for heavy to intense rainfall for all of South East Queensland, including Logan and the Scenic Rim.

“While we urge people to stay off the roads, we encourage people to check the Queensland Traffic website before heading out for updates on road closures.”
