The heavy storms that rolled through on Monday night resulted in thousands of homes and businesses across Logan City and the Scenic Rim losing power.

In Cedar Creek, 93 customers were still affected Tuesday morning, while another 31 customers at Tamborine also were without their electricity, which had been knocked out by the heavy rain and high winds brought by the storms.

Energex said there were a quarter of a million lightning strikes across southeast Queensland during the storms, and at the height of the outages, more than 20,000 people had lost their power.

Repair crews had been working through Monday night and were continuing efforts Tuesday to reconnect electricity.
