This coming Saturday is election day in Queensland and voters in Logan City and the Scenic Rim are being reminded that because we now have preferential voting in the Sunshine State, we must number every box on the ballot paper.
Queensland electoral commissioner Pat Vidgen has told MyNewsFeed.com.au that it’s no good numbering just one box because that will render your vote informal.
He said if you only put #1 in the box beside the name of your first choice candidate and don’t number the rest, your vote will not count.
Commissioner Vidgen said Queensland now has a full preferential voting system that we have not had before, which means voters need to put a number in every box on the ballot in your order of preference.
And he added that numbers cannot be repeated, or again, your vote will not count.
