The Brisbane Supreme Court was told 36 year old Webbstar Latu, carried the metal toolbox which entombed Iuliana Triscaru and Cory Breton – whose bodies were found stuffed inside the box in a Logan dam
The couple had earlier been tortured before being stuffed inside the toolbox, which was then thrown into Scrubby Creek dam.
Their bodies were discovered in February 2016, 18 days after they were last seen alive.
Justice David Boddice said while Latu was not involved in torturing the couple, he “must have known” he was leading them to their fate.
Latu was sentenced to 12 years in jail and must serve atleast 80 percent of his sentence before being deported to New Zealand.
Other members allegedly associated with the incident are not due to face court for atleast another week.
