Call out for Scenic Rim community members looking to make a difference

Is this you?

There’s been a call out for Scenic Rim locals in health and wellbeing or the arts and cultural services who would be passionate about delivering activities to connect Scenic Rim residents.

Council is calling for submissions from local providers interested in delivering projects and events for the Scenic Rim Community and Cultural Program in 2022.

The 2022 Cultural Program will centre on the theme of ‘Understanding our world through the arts and sciences’, with creative ideas and projects that extend traditional art forms, such as poetry, performance, visual arts, film, storytelling and dance through the use of technology, ecological and other sciences, are especially encouraged.

“Our region has an incredible collection of organisations that deliver a range of programs and projects that build a more vibrant and connected community,” Mayor Greg Christensen says, adding that the program is all about delivering exciting community programs for residents and supporting local providers.

“It’s no secret that community organisations have been hit hard by COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions, with disruptions having significant flow-on effects on the community.

“In a region as large as ours with many rural and remote properties, a local group exercise class or arts club is often a very important channel for community members to stay connected, meet new people and maintain their physical and mental wellbeing, and that’s why we’re proud to again put the call out for local groups to get involved in the 2022 programming.

“Successful individuals, businesses, teachers, community organisations and cultural groups can apply to be included in next year’s programming and receive a range of Council support, including added promotion so organisations can do what they do best — delivering fun, educational, challenging and exciting projects for residents.

“The program includes Council’s Be Healthy and Active program, as well as arts and cultural programs, performances and exhibitions, so if you’re passionate about delivering projects and events for your local community, head to Council’s website and get your application in today.”

Submissions for the 2022 Community and Cultural Program are open until Tuesday 2 October 2021. Click here for more details.
