Chief Superintendent Brian Swan has said it has been confirmed, the woman who was killed in the blaze had contacted police just two hours before the tragedy.

“ The call was made on Sunday evening. I don’t want to give you false information but it was made sometime after 9.00pm and police attended, it would seem, sometime after midnight.

Police acknowledge that their response to that call will form a central part of the coronial investigation.

“The matter will be overviewed by the state coroner, and it will be investigated as a death in relation to a police operation,” Superintendent Swan said.

A man in his late 40’s was also killed in the blaze.
