Face masks to be made mandatory again in Logan from tomorrow morning

Masks will be mandatory again in shops, hospitals, aged care facilities, on public transport and in ride-share vehicles across Queensland, including Logan City, from one o’çlock tomorrow morning.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk announced the state-wide mandate this morning but stopped short of covering workplaces, bars and clubs.

She says because bars, clubs and hospitality venues became open to only vaccinated patrons from today, she doesn’t need to extend the mandate to those venues

However Ms Palaszczuk strongly advises patrons to wear masks if they can’t socially distance themselves.

“We’re not expecting a lockdown over the Christmas and New Year, by wearing these masks we’re hoping to slow the spread of this virus.”

“This is a small price to pay for your freedom.”

The Premier says the mandate will be reviewed when Queensland reaches the 90 per cent full vaccination mark.

It comes after the state recorded its first cases of the highly transmissible Omicron variant in the community this week, including a woman from Rochedale South who had returned from a visit to Newcastle.
