Free movie nights under the stars

It will be ‘cue the fun’ when Scenic Rim Regional Council hosts free family movie nights under the stars throughout March.

Council’s 2022 Movies in the Park program features the timeless cat and mouse tale of Tom and Jerry, rated G, which will run over consecutive Saturdays at Tamborine Mountain, Beaudesert and Boonah.

This year’s Movies in the Park program will commence at the Tamborine Mountain Showgrounds on Saturday March 5, followed by Jubilee Park at Beaudesert on Saturday March 12, before concluding at Coronation Park, Boonah, on Saturday March 19.

Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen says the events aim to bring members of the community together in a relaxed setting.

“Whether you’re young or just young-at-heart, these free outdoor movie nights are a wonderful way to connect with others and make the most of the community life we enjoy in the Scenic Rim.

“There’s something for everyone in Tom and Jerry, which combines spectacular animation and live action with a heart-warming message about the importance of working together as a team.

“With the ongoing challenges our community has faced during COVID-19, I hope everyone will accept Council’s invitation to come and enjoy a great night out under the stars with family and friends.”

With Council hosting the free movie and providing free fruit and giveaways, movie-goers need only bring their own chairs and blankets for a great night out beginning at 6.30pm.

Local service clubs will be selling food and drinks at the movie nights.

*All events are subject to COVID-19 restrictions, with moviegoers advised to check Council’s facebook page for any scheduling changes in the event of wet weather.
