Local basketball team, the Logan Village Lakers are running a holiday clinic early next week in Yarrabilba.
The holiday clinic, for beginner and current basketballers looking to gain and improve skills, will take place on January 17-18 at Yarrabilba State Secondary College.
The clinic, for basketballers aged five to 17-years-old, will see participants take part in drills to work on their shooting, passing, rebounding, defence and learning to play the game within a team.
There is also ample time to test these skills during the end of both days when participants will have time to play games of basketball.
The clinic will be ran by Travis Fisher from the Logan Village Lakers.
Mr Fisher has coached basketball for over 20 years and most recently coached Yarrabilba’s first representative team to an undefeated season in the Under 21 South Queensland Junior Basketball Competition.
Mr Fisher says he will be joined by several talented coaches.
“We have a former college player in the USA as a guest coach, as well as a very experienced coach also coming down to take the children through some drills.
“I believe fresh faces are great for the players who have me coach them all year.”
Mr Fisher says there are opportunities for Logan basketballers to play locally.
“You can sign up to Yarrabilbas basketball competition at YBA.org.au and let the Lakers or Yarrabilba know you want to play for us.
“We have teams from under eights through to men’s and women’s teams.”
The clinic costs $90 per person.
If you are interested in taking part in the clinic, make a booking on the Own The Rock Facebook page or by calling Mr Fisher on 0402 752 360.
