Labor promises to fund Loganlea skills laboratory on the TAFE campus

An Albanese Labor Government will fund the establishment of a skills laboratory at the TAFE Loganlea campus if elected on Saturday, May the 21st.

Labor’s $2.3 million commitment will fund simulated clinical laboratory spaces to expand the current range of courses at the campus.

The Skills Laboratory will provide an opportunity to undertake education and training in areas listed on the Australian Government Skills Priority List including pathology, laboratory techniques, and dental skills including prosthetics.

Labor MP for Rankin and Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers, says this announcement is all about more jobs, more skills, and more opportunities for the local community.

“As someone who grew up in our community, I know how important our local TAFEs are in skilling our young people and businesses tell me regularly how hard it is to find skilled workers.”

“That’s why this is such a crucial announcement for our local community because it means locals will have the skills to grab opportunities in the recovery.”

“A vote for Labor at this election is a vote for more skills and better opportunities in our local area.”

Labor Candidate for Forde, Rowan Holzberger says this is another critical investment for our community which will provide more opportunities for locals to get the skills they need and fill the skills shortages we’re seeing in our economy.

“Labor will always work to improve our local TAFEs and ensure locals have the skills they need.”

“For too long, the Morrison Government has neglected the skills sector, and in particular the jobs required to fill the health sector and care economy.”

“We need to be investing in the jobs of the future and that means we need to train more of our own.”

Today’s announcement is part of Labor’s $50 million TAFE Technology Fund which will improve IT facilities, workshops, laboratories, and tele-health simulators across the country.
