Logan City pair caught in major drugs bust

Police have seized more than $500,000 cash, plus drugs and weapons after executing three search warrants as part of an ongoing operation aimed at disrupting the distribution of drugs in the South East Region.

As part of Operation Sierra Carious, investigators from the Gold Coast, Logan and Redland Bay police districts executed three warrants Wednesday (November 18) at premises in Coomera, Capalaba, and Waterford.

Around 6.30am police executed a warrant at a residence on Nandina Court, Coomera, where they allegedly seized approximately $515,000 cash. Of this amount, around $400,000 was allegedly located hidden behind a speaker in a car parked in the garage. Police also seized a small quantity of drugs (cocaine and cannabis), three mobile phones and a flick knife.

A 43-year-old Coomera man was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of crime. He was also charged with two counts of supplying dangerous drugs to a minor, and one count each of permitting use of place, possessing dangerous drugs, possess utensils or pipes and unlawful possession of a weapon

Police also searched a business address the man allegedly owns on Redland Bay Road in Capalaba. A small quantity of drugs were seized from the location.

He was due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday (November 19).

Police also executed a search at a residence on Richmond Crescent in Waterford where they allegedly found a quantity of drugs (cocaine, steroids and cannabis), knuckle dusters and a mobile phone.

A 29-year-old man was charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and one count each of possess utensils and unlawful possession of a weapon. A 25-year-old woman was charged with three counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count of possess utensils.

They are due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on December 16.

Investigations are ongoing.
