South east Queensland residents including those in Logan City are being warned that an unvaccinated Uber driver is in Robina hospital on the Gold Coast suffering from the highly infectious Delta strain of COVID-19 and may have visited the region.

He’s the first locally acquired case of the virus in Queensland in 15 days  and was potentially infectious for up to 10 days before  being admitted to hospital .

The man is thought to have picked up the virus from a visit to Melbourne and didn’t quarantine when he returned to Queensland.

Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young says he’s very unwell.
