Logan City police are concerned about an increase in a particular crime statistic.
Queensland police have revealed that new data shows that the number of people carrying knives is at a five-year high.
A total of 15 people have been killed in knife attacks this year alone.
Figures show that in Queensland and Logan City, the incidence of carrying a knife in a public place has increased by 37% since 2015.
More than 4,500 people were charged with knife offences between January and November this year.
As a result of these statistics, police are stepping up patrols across the Logan City area.
