New traces of COVID-19 found in Logan City

There are fresh concerns that COVID-19 may have gone undetected in Logan City and the Gold Coast with more traces of the coronavirus found in wastewater.

Loganholme, as well as Pimpama, Coombabah and Merrimac on the Gold Coast are the latest catchments found with virus fragments.

Queensland acting chief health officer Dr Sonya Bennett has encouraged residents of Logan City and the Gold Coast to be alert for any symptoms and to get tested if they have even the mildest of symptoms.

She said that while it is possible that these detections relate to previous COVID-19 cases, who can shed viral fragments for a couple of months after they are no longer infectious, it is concerning that there have been four detections over the same testing period.
