Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has declared a total fire ban for Logan City, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Somerset and Gold Coast council areas.
It means no fires in the open air which covers anywhere outside, including a deck, balcony, courtyard or park.
Cooking outside is also restricted to gas and electric barbecues only and welding or grinding can’t be carried out.
All permits to light fires in the designated areas are cancelled.
Penalties apply for breaking the rules.
