Woman reaches new heights in attempted car theft

A 24-year-old woman has gone to new heights in an attempt to steal a car at Waterford West.

Police allege she broke into a house in the Logan suburb on Sunday, June the 5th, and while in the home she took a shower and changed into clothes belonging to the residents.

Once dressed, she allegedly got into the victim’s Volkswagen Polo and attempted to steal it.

At this point, the car owner has returned home to find the offender in the vehicle.

The victim then used a forklift to lift the vehicle off the ground; with the woman inside – stopping any chances for a ‘clean’ get-away.

A short time later, police arrived at the house and saw the woman in the vehicle that was being held up by the forklift.

The car was slowly lowered and the 24-year-old woman was arrested without incident.

She was subsequently charged with burglary and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and granted police bail to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on the 13th of next month.

To ensure community safety, police recommend members of the public not engage in methods of disrupting criminal activity which may involve risk of personal harm or further legal recourse.
