A 20-year-old Eagleby man has been charged with a hooning-related offence after information provided by members of the public led to his identification.

Police allege the man was driving a white Holden sedan that was shown on CCTV driving dangerously at the intersection of Castille Crescent and Avonmore Street in Edens Landing in the early hours of August 20.

He was charged with one count of wilfully making unnecessary noise and smoke and is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on September 29. His vehicle was impounded for 90 days.

Senior Sergeant Corinne Brown said information from the public which can assist police in clearly identifying those involved in such offences is crucial.

“Hoons are a danger on our roads, putting themselves and other road users at risk,” Senior Sergeant Brown said.

“Their noisy antics damage roadways and disrupt neighbourhoods.

“Police will continue to work with the community to identify hooning activity and take action as we have done on this occasion.”
