Australia’s banking services restored after major outage

Banking services have been restored after a widespread outage affected ANZ, Commonwealth Bank , Westpac, St George ,  and other businesses including Virgin Australia.

The problem was first reported on Thursday afternoon by customers on social media when they complained about having trouble accessing bank services online or through banking apps.

The source of the problem is believed to have been  with service provider Akamai.

Akamai – in simple terms – provides services and technology that runs behind the scenes of some of the biggest websites in the world.
