Logan’s own Winter Olympics gold medallist Steven Bradbury was back in his old stomping ground Wednesday (September 16) to address the Logan Regional Chamber of Commerce’s business breakfast in Park Ridge.
Bradbury, who won Australia’s first winter games gold medal in 2002 in Salt Lake City, had been working the guest speaker circuit until COVID-19 put paid to that earlier this year. He says it has been a sobering experience having to pivot in these unusual times.
“For me, it feels like I’ve had to come down a few cogs. I’ve had to reassess my goals and tighten my belt,” he said.
His speech to the Chamber breakfast was just his second since the pandemic hit whereas he normally does two or three a week. The address focused on staying positive.
“I think in a lot of ways you don’t realise what you’ve got until it’s gone and so a lot of people will thrive when things come back. We’re a race of people known for not giving up and we won’t.”
