Logan residents have been rising well before dawn to line-up for COVID-19 tests, as cars queue for kilometres around local testing clinics.
Some people have been facing waiting times in excess of three hours.
Many have been arriving at the Edens Landing testing clinic from 4.20am and some have been waiting in line in their cars for hours only to be turned away.
90.5 Rebel FM announcer Ashley Palmero and his wife decided to go to the testing site at Mudgeeraba Showgrounds at 7.30 this morning to get a PCR test after their daughter contracted COVID-19 when she returned to Queensland from Melbourne.
Ashley says it’s been a long and frustrating wait to get tested.
“We got here around about 7.30 this morning. It’s now sitting just after 10 oçlock. And it’s getting close to three hours and I can see the testing centre. So, we’re probably another half an hour to 45 minutes away and it looks like they’ve closed the showground intake. So, there’s no other cars coming in and unfortunately anyone who was hoping to get tested today won’t be able to.”
Mr Palermo also has some tips for anyone who is thinking of heading to a local testing clinic.
Yesterday, there were reports of cars lining up from 12.45am at the Hillcrest drive-through testing centre before the site reached capacity just before 6am.
