Logan locals who are carers of those suffering with dementia, a degenerative disease that affects thinking, behaviour and the ability to perform everyday tasks, are being invited to an information session in Logan Central Community Centre.
“Family members and friends often find themselves in the role of a carer when a loved one is living with dementia,” says Lynda Foulis, State Coordinator of Amputees & Families Support Group Queensland and Logan Central Community Hub.
“While caring for your loved one can be rewarding, it can also have its tougher days.
“As you care for someone with dementia, you may not be taking as much care of your own emotional, mental or physical wellbeing.”
Lynda is encouraging local carers to the free session that is open to the community and includes morning tea.
The Carer Information Session is a Healthy Ageing Hub event, providing healthy-ageing information and support for older people (50 years and older), their families and carers in our community.
Dates: Wednesday, 1 June 2022
Where: Logan Central Community Centre, 9-11 Jacaranda Avenue, Logan Central
Time: 10:00am followed by morning tea
RSVP: Please call Lynda on 3290 4293
Local carers can also join Dementia Australia and Wellways Carer Gateway to find out more information for Carers.
