A charity aimed at assisting domestic violence victims, has donated back to school stationery packs to disadvantaged children in Logan City, who may otherwise not have had what they needed to start the school year.
Friends with Dignity is a volunteer based not-for-profit organisation that provides practical programs to assist survivors of domestic violence in collaboration with refuge and crisis centres.
Built on the foundation that change is effected through community engagement, the Friends with Dignity programs encourage individuals, groups, and organisations to actively initiate change by providing tangible ways in which we all can ‘Step Up, Speak Out and Support’.
Each backpack was filled with items donated by the Logan Hyperdome from retailers such as Big W, Kmart, and Smiggle.
The packs included essentials such as lunch boxes, water bottles, pencil cases, and stationery items.
“Many children are forced to leave their homes with minimal items and their school bags are not always a priority, so Hyperdome’s donation not only helps children at the start of the year but also throughout,” said Friends with Dignity Founder and CEO Manuela Whitford.
“On behalf of Friends with Dignity we are incredibly thankful for Hyperdome’s generosity to our back-to-school drive, helping our little friends in refuges stand out for the right reasons this coming school year.”
