Western Downs Regional Council has opened its yearly “Kickstart Your Career” program with 24 positions available for those looking for employment.
Councillor Megan James says that the program primarily targets school leavers, but is also open to people looking to re-enter the workforce.
First-year Business Trainee Yasmyn Phipps-Ledger says the Program had opened up several career opportunities and provided a flexible and dynamic workplace.
“I have really enjoyed my traineeship so far and have already built skills across multiple departments including the Customer Contact Centre, Records, and Planning & Building/Plumbing”.
“I love working for the Council because you get a taste of all kinds of careers in a really supportive and flexible environment, which is really important when you have a young family. I was also fortunate enough to have received organisation-wide recognition for my efforts this year, which has given me newfound confidence in my role.”
Cr James says that the Council is thrilled to have people applying for the program, after over 150 applications were received last year.
Applications close on the 4th of next month.
