A well known Beaudesert rugby league club has done something extra special for their 50 year anniversary.
The Beaudesert Kingfishers were planning to celebrate their 50th birthday this year with a gala cabaret event.
While Covid restrictions prevented the celebrations from going ahead, the crew came up with an exciting alternative.
A 50th birthday celebration song for the club was written by their very own Keith Gee, and performed and recorded by Golden Guitar winner Josh Arnold.
“We had November 14 as the date planned for the gala cabaret,” Mr Gee said.
“It was going to be a ripper too but oh well just can’t do it this year due to Covid-19.
“We’ve deferred it to next year now which actually works out great. Now we get to celebrate for two years.”
Mr Gee said he’d planned to have the song released on November 14 for their 50 year anniversary.
Instead, they chose to debut the new song at one of their September games.
“It’ll be available on Spotify,” Mr Gee said.
“I wrote the lyrics and then Josh and I got together and co-wrote the song.
“I hope everyone loves the song and it goes back in history and tells a tale over time.”
Playin for the Kingies is available on Spotify and iTunes now.
