The Logan Regional Chamber of Commerce held its annual general meeting last night at the Logan Village Hotel, where members reflected on a tough year and announced its 2020/21 executive committee members.
Chamber president Chyrel Pridham said “to say this year has been a baptism of fire would be an understatement”.
“No sooner that the reigns were handed over to us, we as a new committee hit the ground running,” Ms Pridham said.
“Firstly we embraced the new High School down the road to formulate a plan of how we were going to achieve one of our wish items – our Junior Chamber of Commerce”.
“It is no secret to anyone that lives or works in our region that transport other than by car is a challenge. So, after encouragement from our Corporate Member McGuire’s grant writing happened for a much-needed minibus.”
Ms Pridham said first came the fires, and then came covid lockdown.
“Covid was something that nobody saw coming or knew how to deal with,” she said.
“We have finally come back to the new normal. Our monthly markets are back up and running and growing.
“Villagefest has had to be put on hold but by no means cancelled with the new date set for August 28 2021”.
“The future for Logan Regional Chamber of Commerce looks very bright with many new opportunities and ideas that have come out of this time. I am grateful for all support.”
Vice President Joel Hall (who is employed by Rebel Media) said despite covid being the ultimate test, their president was able to lead them through the tough times.
“COVID-19 proved to be the ultimate test of our community and our chamber, I am immensely proud of the response by our chamber. Chyerl was providing constant updates to our members regarding the relief efforts and updates re changes around lockdown protocols,” Mr Hall said.
“A massive shout out to Chyerl Pridham for all the work she did this past year, highlighted of course by securing the grant funds that allowed us to obtain a bus to help the youth in our area and launch our junior chamber in the coming months.”
