Man charged for releasing poisonous spray at a Logan City shopping centre

Police have charged a 36-year-old man for allegedly releasing a poisonous cough mixture at the Eagleby Plaza shopping centre last Saturday.

It’s alleged that around 1.15pm, a man entered the shopping centre via the northern entry and released a noxious aerosol substance in the vicinity of a café and medical centre.

The substance caused six people to experience adverse respiratory reactions, resulting in a 54 year-old-woman being transported to hospital.

Subsequent investigations resulted in a police raid on nearby Fryar Road home, where a 36-year-old  man was arrested.

He’s now been charged with five counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count each of serious assault of a person over 60, administering poison with intent to harm, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing drug utensils.

He’s scheduled to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on the 14th of next month.
