Metal theft targeted across Logan

The Logan District Tactical Crime Squad and the Logan District Crime Reduction Unit have prevented and disrupted metal theft across the city.

The two units have conducted inspections of metal recyclers around Logan.

A number of businesses were engaged and informed of offending behaviours.

Police encouraged operators to report anyone attempting to sell large quantities of metals, in a direct attempt to disrupt the behaviour.

Logan Police are also calling on members of the public to be vigilant, especially in and around new housing estates, as there has been an increase in reports of the removal of copper wire, temporary fencing and appliances.

Theft of metals like copper is dangerous and costly to the community.

Look out for suspicious behaviour and report it to police.
