The Federal Government will spend $40 million on upgrading Jimboomba’s section of the Mount Lindesay Highway and the Queensland Government will add another $10 million to help fix the notorious road.
The work will start next year and the money will be used to widen the entire 1.5 kilometre Jimboomba stretch to four lanes, as well as upgrade intersections and pedestrian paths.
The road has attracted criticism from drivers for years, with constant development adding to traffic woes.
Government figures reveal 25,000 vehicles use the Jimboomba section every day.
The announcement comes on the back of work to widen the highway to four lanes on the section between Stoney Camp Road and Chambers Flat Road which began earlier this year.
