Queensland motorists are being reminded that they face double demerit points for breaking road rules in New South Wales this weekend.

For that state, it’s the Queens Birthday long weekend – a holiday that’s been delayed in Queensland until October.

Police will be stationed across New South Wales and officers will be on the look out for motorists who are caught speeding, using a mobile phone, failing to wear a seatbelt  or failing to wear a helmet if on a bike.

The double demerit penalty will be in force until midnight on Monday night.
